When playing fish, do you use the clutch or backwind.

I always backwind as i generally feel more in control of the fish then.

I always play of the clutch i personally think that backwinding bounces the rod tip up & down ( have a look next time you do it ) i went through a spell of hook pulls and lost fish and it was the only thing i could put it down to so stopped backwinding & used the clutch and stopped pulling hooks , does cause a bit more line twist but a few throws with a spin doctor lead sorts it out

might have no relevance at all but it was the only thing i could think of at the time & i just figured each time the rod tip bounced it must have been bouncing the hook up and down as well & after playing fish from the clutch for a few years now i feel i have better control than when i used to backwind but at the end of the day i guess its just what you have confidence in

i always backwind on our club lake runs water, the carp in here go up to 20lbs, but i only float fish on the place, but when on a proper carp lake i always use the front drag, as i dont use baitrunners.
